Realme Watch: Unboxing and First Impressions
We are unboxing the Realme Watch. There were some delays due to embargo issues, but the device is finally here. We are going to unbox it and share everything about what this watch has to offer based on our first impressions.
What’s Inside the Box?
The Realme Watch comes in a long box with many of its key features listed on the back, such as its large display, IP68 certification, and SpO2 monitor. Upon opening the box, you will find the watch itself. Alongside the device, the box contains a charger pack and the user documentation.
Design, Feel, and Pairing
The first thing you will notice is that the watch is very lightweight. While it doesn’t necessarily look very premium, it feels like a very decent smartwatch. Putting the strap on for the first time can be a little difficult.
The watch pairs with your smartphone using the Realme Link app. The pairing process is very easy and fast, with no difficulties at all.
Build Quality and Straps
The smartwatch is not very heavy, and its food-grade strap is of good quality. One of the best features is that the straps are interchangeable. You can purchase different colored straps, which cost Rs. 499. Furthermore, you can also use after-market straps with this watch, giving you virtually unlimited options to customize its look. You can use one strap for six months to a year and then spend around Rs. 500 for a new one.
A Big and Bright Display
The biggest highlight of the Realme Watch is its very large screen, a point emphasized by Realme during its launch event. It features a 1.4-inch screen. This is a normal IPS display, not an AMOLED screen. The display has a 320×320 resolution and a 323 PPI pixel density, which makes it bright and clear enough to be easily visible even when you are outdoors.
Health and Fitness Features
In terms of features, this is a very decent smartwatch. It comes equipped with a continuous heart rate monitor that records your heart rate every 5 minutes, and you can change this interval in the app.
A significant feature is the SpO2 monitor, which checks your blood oxygen levels. This is a very important feature to have, especially in this price range, as very few other brands offer it. The watch also comes with an IP68 certification, which means it is water-resistant and can be taken for a swim in water up to 1.5 meters deep without any problems.
For activity tracking, the device includes 14 different modes. Notably, it also comes with a dedicated Cricket Mode, which will accurately track your activity while you are playing cricket.
Battery Life and Connectivity
Battery life is crucial for a smartwatch. This watch is equipped with a 160mAh battery. If you keep the continuous heart rate monitor active, the battery will last for seven days. If you turn that feature off and use the watch less frequently, it can last up to 10 days. The battery life is decent, providing 7 to 10 days of use. However, a 14-day battery would have been better, as competing smart bands often offer 10 to 14 days of battery life.
For connectivity, the watch supports Bluetooth 5.0, which contributes to its fast and seamless pairing experience.
Smart Controls and Other Features
The Realme Watch includes several other useful features. You can find your device, and you can also control music playback on your smartphone directly from the watch.
Another interesting feature is the remote camera shutter. You can set up your smartphone on a tripod and use the watch to tap and capture a photo. The watch also includes many other features that are visible on the screen.
Watch Faces: Customization Options
For many users, watch faces are an important feature for making a watch feel new every day. This device comes with 12 watch faces pre-installed by default. Realme has also announced that over 100 new watch faces are coming soon via an OTA update, as they have collaborated with many artists.
Price and Final Thoughts
The price is the biggest highlight of this smartwatch. At Rs. 3,999, the Realme Smartwatch is a very, very good value-for-money device. While the battery life could have been slightly better, there is not much else to complain about. The feel of the device is quite good, and the display is bright. If you are looking for a value-for-money smartwatch, this is definitely a device to consider. Please remember that these are first impressions after using the watch for a short time.
