Vivo V19 Unboxing and First Impressions: A Six-Camera Powerhouse

We are unboxing the newly launched Vivo V19. This is not an ordinary camera smartphone; it arrives with a total of six cameras. Here are our first impressions based on the unboxing and initial use.

What’s Inside the Box?

Upon opening the box, you are greeted with the phone itself, showcasing its camera design. Inside, you will find a good quality TPU case, documentation, and a SIM card tool. The package also includes a USB Type-C cable. A notable inclusion is the set of earphones, which are typically found in Vivo’s packaging. Finally, there is a 33-watt Vivo FlashCharge 2.0 fast charger.

Design and In-Hand Feel

The model we have is the Mystic Silver color, which shifts its appearance depending on how the light hits it. A Piano Black variant is also available. The phone feels very good in the hand. With a weight of around 186-190 grams, it isn’t too heavy or too light. The device is protected by Gorilla Glass on both the front and back, adding to its premium feel.

Looking at the layout, the bottom of the phone houses a speaker grille, USB Type-C port, a primary microphone, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The top has a secondary noise-canceling microphone. On the right side, you’ll find the volume rocker and the power button. A key feature is the triple card slot, which allows you to use two SIM cards and an SD card simultaneously.

A Stunning Display

The first thing that stands out when you turn on the phone is its screen. The Vivo V19 features a 6.44-inch FHD+ E3 AMOLED display, which is the latest generation of AMOLED technology from Vivo. The screen looks absolutely gorgeous. The colors are punchy and saturated, and blacks are deep, as expected from an AMOLED panel. The thin bezels contribute to an immersive, holistic multimedia experience.

Core Specifications and Software

Under the hood, the Vivo V19 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 processor. It comes in variants including an 8GB RAM model and supports features like 4G VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling.

Powering the device is a 4,500mAh battery, which supports the 33W fast charger included in the box. On the software front, it runs on Funtouch OS 10.0 based on Android 10. While there are some pre-installed apps, they can be uninstalled. Out of the box, the device comes with the April security patch.

Security and Sensors

The Vivo V19 is equipped with all the necessary sensors, including an in-display fingerprint sensor and face unlock. During our initial setup and testing, both the fingerprint scanner and face unlock proved to be very fast and reliable, working every time without any issues.

Multimedia Experience

For multimedia consumption, the phone performs well. The audio from the single speaker is loud and clear with good quality. The video experience is particularly impressive, thanks to the excellent AMOLED display. Watching videos on platforms like YouTube is a great experience, with vibrant colors and deep blacks making the content pop. The device also has Widevine L1 support, meaning you can stream content in HD on services like Netflix.

Performance and Gaming

With the Snapdragon 712 processor, LPDDR4X RAM, and UFS 2.1 storage, the phone delivers solid performance. In benchmark tests, it scored an AnTuTu score of 253,004. For gaming, you can comfortably play titles like PUBG on medium settings without any problems. However, you might experience some stuttering if you push the settings to high. For casual and moderate gaming, the performance is adequate.

The Six-Camera System

The biggest highlight of the Vivo V19 is its camera setup. At the front, there is a dual-camera system featuring a 32MP primary sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, which is excellent for taking group selfies.

On the back, you get a quad-camera setup. This includes a 48MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro lens. Initial photo samples, especially the selfies, are very impressive. Photos taken in normal lighting conditions come out very well. The phone also includes a Night Selfie Mode, allowing for good selfies even in low-light conditions. For video, the phone can shoot up to 4K at 30fps and features EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization).

Final First Impressions

The Vivo V19 looks and feels like a premium phone. When you hold it, it definitely has an eye-catching design. The three main highlights from our initial impressions are its premium look, the stunning AMOLED display perfect for multimedia, and its impressive camera system, especially the selfie cameras.

One point to consider is the processor. The Snapdragon 712 is a slightly older chipset. However, it’s important to remember that Vivo’s V-series has always been focused on being camera-centric and multimedia-centric, and the V19 continues that tradition. It is likely to be very popular, especially for its cameras.
