Realme Band Unboxing and First Impressions
The Realme Band has finally arrived. This band is expected to come with aggressive pricing, which is its biggest highlight. Let’s start with the unboxing. The Realme Band is a budget fitness band with many features and activity modes.
What’s In The Box
Inside the box, you first find the band itself. Along with the band, there is some documentation. There is nothing else in the box besides the band and the paperwork.
Design, Feel, and Build
The first impression upon holding the band is that it is very light. The official weight is 20 grams, which is incredibly lightweight. The quality of the band is decent.
This model is the black color, but it is also available in two other colors: green and yellow. The straps are interchangeable, meaning you can remove them and replace them with other colors.
Charging Method
To charge the device, you simply need to remove one of the straps to reveal a built-in USB Type-A connector. There is no need for a separate charging cable; you can plug the band directly into any standard USB adapter, just like you would a wire. A red dot appears on the screen to indicate that the device is charging. The strap fits back on securely, so you don’t have to worry about it coming off by mistake.
Display
The Realme Band features a color OLED screen. When used indoors, there are no issues with visibility. However, even at full brightness, the screen’s brightness level can feel a bit low when used outdoors in the sun.
Features and Specifications
The band is equipped with a continuous heart rate monitor, which is a very good feature. It pairs with the Realme Link app, which is very streamlined and simple to use. When you first use the app, you won’t find it confusing, as everything is clearly laid out with graphs and text.
For activity tracking, the band offers around nine different modes, including special modes for Cricket and Yoga. If you are playing cricket, you can select the cricket mode to accurately track your activity. Similarly, there are modes for walking, hiking, and running.
Battery Life
Battery life is a crucial aspect of any smart band. Realme claims the battery will last for up to 6 days with the heart rate sensor continuously turned on. If you turn off the heart rate sensor, you can get up to 9 days of battery life.
Other Key Features
- Sleep Monitoring: The band can accurately monitor your sleep quality, including when you go into deep sleep and light sleep.
- Easy Pairing: Pairing the band with the Realme Link app is very easy. After a quick initial update, it connects quickly and syncs data without any issues.
- Watch Faces: Out of the box, the band comes with five watch faces. More watch faces are planned to be released via future OTA (over-the-air) updates.
- Water Resistance: The band has an IP68 certification, which means you can wear it while swimming without any worries.
- Smart Functions: It includes all the standard features you expect from a fitness band, such as incoming call alerts, alarm clock, message notifications, drink reminders, and a DND (Do Not Disturb) mode.
Final Thoughts
Overall, the Realme Band is a decent device, with its value depending heavily on its price. A price point around ₹1500 to ₹2000 would make it a decent offering. A couple of areas for improvement would be the display brightness, which could be higher for better outdoor visibility, and the battery life, which ideally could be closer to 10-15 days. However, you get what you pay for, and the final price will determine its overall value.
