Introduction
Friends, I feel bad that the gaming category of smartphones is dying down. Because now flagship phones are all gaming. And the dedicated gaming focused smartphones aren’t coming. I mean there’s one ASUS ROG, but it also has iterative upgrades. There’s not much, it’s still not focused on the camera. There are a lot of things that I’d rather buy a flagship. But this year’s Red Magic 10 Pro, It comes with an 80W charger & a USB Type C to Type C charging cable.
Overview
There’s a speaker grill below, USB Type C, SIM card tray. On the right hand side, there’s an inlet vent. Just like laptops have inlets & outlets, this is an air inlet vent. There’s a physical fan, noise cancelling microphone, speaker grill, IR blaster. There’s a 3.5mm jack. The left hand side is very busy. There are trigger buttons on both sides. There’s a gaming phone & physical trigger buttons. There’s an air outlet. And then you have this volume rocker up & down. There’s a power on off. It looks like an alert slider, but it’s a dedicated game space button. There’s a gaming phone obviously. And then there’s one more microphone. But there’s one thing, this is a physical fan! That’s why the air goes from here to here. And when you’re gaming, you can actually hear the fan. It’s 226.1g. Even the 7050mAh battery weighs the same. It’s 8.9mm thin. It looks seriously good for its uniqueness. And it looks very mechanical. The difference between an IC car & an electric car. This is the IC beast! We’ve seen it from the outside,
Screen and Camera
There’s a camera, an under display selfie camera, but it’s not visible. And look at the pixels we saw on the Samsung phone. We can’t even see that here. It has a 95% screen-to-body ratio. The side bezels are of a uniform size of 1.25mm. It literally looks unreal! When it’s curved, the side bezels hide. But this one is a flat display, but still, I absolutely love it! It has a 6.85” 144Hz LTPO display. And as I said, it has a 95% screen-to-body ratio & it’s the highest I’ve seen on a phone. And that’s wow! Very nice!
There’s a 50MP to 50MP camera in the rear. It supports 8K, 4K, 60FPS etc. And we’ve clicked some photos. But again, I’m not going to talk much about the cameras for this phone.
Specifications
Let’s talk about the specifications. It’s a gaming phone & performance is the highlight. It comes on Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite. It has a 12GB RAM, 256GB storage & a base variant. The topmost variant goes upto 24GB RAM. It has LPDDR5X Ultra RAM type & UFS 4.1 Pro storage type. And it has the highest AnTuTu score among all the phones that have come on the 8 Elite. And it’s the base variant of 12GB.
It has a score above 2.9M! Think about it, if you take the 24GB variant, it’ll easily go upto 3-3.1M. In fact, Redmagic claims that it scores upto 3.2M. It’s a score that I thought wasn’t as good as the 8 Elite. But yes, this phone proves that it can cross 3M on AnTuTu. It’s not just that, it’s stable too! The GPU stability score is above 83%. And due to the physical fan, there aren’t many heating issues. And due to that, the performance isn’t throttled. And that’s why you’re getting such a high AnTuTu score. So if you want to do sustained gaming, I think this is one of the best phones out there. It has the highest BGY setting at 120FPS & Genshin Impact at 60FPS.
I mean, if you throw any game at it, it’ll easily play it. In fact, gamers are going to love it. If you’re one of those, and if you go out, consider it. Seriously, I’m talking about gaming. Everything else isn’t that important. It has Game Space, you can tune the performance etc. You can do all these things. In fact, as I said, there’s a dedicated Game Space button the stereo speakers are good, there are absolutely no problems for gaming.
Operating System
If I talk about the OS, there’s Android 15 & Red Magic OS. But the updates are only for 1 year. All the sensors are present. There’s an in-display fingerprint sensor, face unlock etc. The multimedia is amazing! The display is absolutely awesome. So this phone is great for multimedia too.
In the PC, you get a fan, there’s RGB too. But it also has liquid metal cooling. Yes, just like your gaming PCs. I mean, it’s a mini PC. If I talk about connectivity,
The USB is 3.2, obviously if you’re gaming, you have to do it on a big screen. You have to do data transfer & streaming. For that, it’s fantastic! It doesn’t come with an IP certification. And there’s a reason. It has physical fans, physical inlet & outlet. If it falls in water, the water will go inside. So no IP rating on this one. I’d definitely say that such phones are needed in India.
