X200 Pro Mini Unboxing & Review: The 2025 Flagship Mini Trend is Here

A new trend is emerging for 2025: the flagship mini. The X200 Pro Mini is a prime example of what’s to come, where “mini” doesn’t necessarily mean a small, compact phone, but something a little different. This is a new variant being added to flagship lineups, offering top-tier features in a more manageable form factor.

A Quick Unboxing

Inside the box for the X200 Pro Mini, you will find the phone itself, along with standard documentation. A decent case is included, which is notable for its huge camera module cutout. The package also contains a 90W charger, a USB Type-A to Type-C charging cable, and the humble SIM card tool.

Design and In-Hand Feel: A Compact Powerhouse

Upon first look, the phone definitely feels compact, but the camera module is anything but mini. It’s a device that sits somewhere between a traditional mini and a standard-sized phone. Weighing in at 191.5 grams, it has a solid and sturdy build that feels great in the hand. The back is made of glass with a finish that is slightly shiny and slightly matte, complemented by flat sides. This compact and solid construction gives it an excellent in-hand feel. The device comes with a pre-applied thick scratch guard. It also has an IP68/69 certification, making it completely water and dust-resistant.

Display: Bright and Bezel-Less

While this is a “mini” phone, the display is not small at 6.1 inches. It features a 6.31-inch LTPO 8T display with a fast 1Hz to 120Hz refresh rate. It is a very bright screen with extremely thin, uniform bezels all around, giving it an excellent and modern look befitting a flagship phone. For multimedia consumption, the phone has Widevine L1 support, ensuring no problems with high-definition streaming.

Performance: The Dimensity 9400 Edge

The X200 Pro Mini is powered by the Dimensity 9400 chipset, the same as its Pro sibling. The base variant starts with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with other configurations including 16GB/512GB and a 16GB/1TB option. It uses LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

In terms of performance, the phone is very capable. Its AnTuTu score is 2.63 million, which is very close to the Pro model’s score of 2.67-2.68 million. This means it can handle high-end gaming, like Genshin Impact, at a stable 59-60 FPS on the highest settings. However, the processor is inclined more towards battery efficiency than pure performance. Unlike some other performance-focused chips, this one does not cause the phone to get excessively hot.

Battery Life: The 5700mAh Surprise

One of the most impressive features of this mini phone is its massive 5700mAh battery. Combined with a power-efficient 3nm processor and a smaller LTPO display, the battery life is expected to be incredible, easily lasting one and a half to two days. The phone supports 90W wired charging and 30W wireless charging.

Camera System: A 50MP Triple Threat

The camera setup is a key area of difference compared to the Pro model. The X200 Pro Mini features a triple camera system with a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 50MP telephoto sensor that provides 3x zoom. This differs from the Pro’s 50MP + 50MP + 200MP setup, where the 200MP sensor offered a 3.7x zoom.

Despite the different hardware, the photo and video results are surprisingly close to the Pro model. The quality, dynamic range, and colors come out quite well, making it one of the best camera smartphones out there. All sensors, including the 32MP front selfie camera, can shoot video in 4K at 60fps. However, a couple of features from the Pro model are missing: the 4K 120fps mode and the ability to record in Dolby Vision.

Conclusion: Is This the Future?

The X200 Pro Mini delivers almost all the features of the larger X200 Pro—performance, a great display, and excellent cameras—in a more compact form factor and at a lower price. The main differences are the optical fingerprint sensor instead of an ultrasonic one, and some high-end camera features like the 3.7x telephoto zoom and specific video modes. This phone serves as a showcase for what “mini” flagships could look like in 2025. The real question is whether phones like these will capture the market. What do you think?
